Operations Manager

The American Economic Liberties Project is a non-partisan, non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to fighting monopoly power. We combine policy and regulatory expertise with strategic communications, coalition-building, and advocacy campaigns to help ensure policymakers protect workers, small businesses, communities, and democracy from monopolistic corporations to advance economic liberty for all.

Economic Liberties seeks an Operations Manager to oversee the day-to-day operations of the organization to ensure that it runs efficiently, support team members with the systems needed to succeed, and coordinate communications with the Board and donors with the support of the senior team. This role reports to the Director of Strategy & Programs.

In this role you will:

  • Manage the overall operations of the office and key service providers for accounting, legal, and IT services with support from the operations staff.
  • Work closely with our external accounting firm and the Operations Associate to run payroll, conduct monthly reconciliation on grants, and produce timely and accurate financial reports, including for board meetings and grant reports. 
  • Monitor and complete relevant registrations and compliance documents as needed.
  • Work with Economic Liberties’ communications team and external partners to support event logistics, specifically managing the budget and planning for in-person gatherings. 
  • Manage consultants, vendors, and associated contracts and agreements.
  • Prepare agendas and reports for board meetings and support the Executive Director and Director of Strategy & Programs in board communication and management.
  • Provide administrative support to other projects as needed.
  • Oversee operations and other relevant activities for Economic Liberties’ 501(c)4 sister organization, Fight Corporate Monopolies, in accordance with the resource sharing agreement. 

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Five years of work experience in operations as an administrative assistant, office manager, or similar administrative or operations role.
  • Familiarity with basic HR and financial systems like ADP,  Bill.com, Expensify, Quickbooks, etc.
  • Excellent organizational and management skills, interpersonal communication skills, attention to detail, and discretion with sensitive information. 
  • Knowledge of non-profit finance management, compliance rules, and processes. 
  • Ability to collaboratively solve problems by seeking input and ideas from others.
  • Ability to project manage and execute on multiple tasks and projects in parallel.
  • Creative in finding solutions and flexible in adjusting to new strategies, procedures, and tasks as the organization evolves.

This is a full time, exempt position. The salary starts at $70,000 plus excellent employer-paid full coverage benefits, including health, dental, and vision, as well as generous vacation and unlimited sick days, employer matching 401k plan, and up to twelve weeks parental leave.
