Big Tech Mergers

Amazon, Apple, Facebook and Google use mergers and acquisitions to gain market power, acquire data, and snuff out any threats from would-be competitors. The list of their publicly-disclosed acquisitions is below. 

In September 2021, the Federal Trade Commission released a report documenting the total number of acquisitions made by Big Tech firms between 2010 and the end of 2019, including those that have were not reported to the agency. That report is available here.

126 acquisitions over 28 years or ~5 deals per year

Apple

138 acquisitions over 38 years or ~4 deals per year

Meta

103 acquisitions over 21 years or ~5 deals per year

Google

277 acquisitions over 25 years or ~11 deals per year
