“Thinking Big” Kick Off Talk with NYT’s Peter Goodman

At a moment of acute political, economic, and social uncertainty, please join us as we take a step back to wrestle with big ideas shaping our politics alongside some of the sharpest and most provocative authors writing about economic and political power today.

Our new, interactive “Thinking Big” series kicks off virtually on Tuesday, June 21 at 8pm ET / 5pm PT with Peter Goodman, the global economics correspondent for The New York Times and author of “Davos Man: How the Billionaires Devoured the World.” Described by NPR as a “powerful, fiery book, and it could well be an essential one,” Davos Man explains the policy mechanisms that have given rise to extreme wealth inequality, including how the ultra-rich gamed the COVID-19 pandemic to supercharge their own wealth and power. Peter’s evocative writing also describes the experiences of people who have been left behind: impoverished workers in the Gulf, non-unionized warehouse staff, and factory workers whose livelihoods were destroyed by the decline of American manufacturing.
