Policy Analyst

The American Economic Liberties Project is a non-partisan, non-profit organization dedicated to developing policy ideas and generating political will for decentralizing concentrated economic power by educating, supporting, and demanding accountability from state and federal public officials who are responsible for protecting workers, entrepreneurs, small businesses, and communities from monopolistic corporations. Economic Liberties combines distinctive policy and regulatory expertise with capacities in research, strategic communications, advocacy, and coalition-building to achieve its goals.

We are seeking a Policy Analyst to join our team who is passionate about our mission and will bring experience in competition policy, antitrust, consumer protection, and/or financial regulation. As a Policy Analyst, you will help to advance our goals by producing timely, rigorously researched, accessible products in collaboration with our policy and communications teams. You will become familiar with major corporations, their business models and practices in key markets of focus and the implications of their operations for other market participants. You will become fluent in the range of policy solutions available to address concentrated corporate power. This role may also present the opportunity to specialize in a specific sector of the economy over time.

In this role you will:

  • Write and conduct policy research on specific markets and related antimonopoly policies on tight timelines.
  • Track business news and specific corporations and their impact on the market/economy.
  • Draft and edit memos, petitions, letters, and testimony at federal and state policymakers.
  • Generate research ideas, gather data, and collaborate on other editorial projects.
  • Support team members in briefing policymakers and coalition partners.
  • Build and maintain relationships with partners to advance the work.

About you:

  • Early career professional with 2-3 years’ experience in an investigative journalism, business analyst, or policy-oriented role.
  • Excellent research, analysis, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
  • Methodical in approaching projects, good time management skills, and ability to track and execute multiple work streams simultaneously with light supervision.
  • Sense of curiosity and orientation for learning and a willingness to accept feedback.
  • Passion for fighting corporate power.
  • This role will be based in Washington D.C.

This is a full-time, exempt position. The salary for this position starts at $60,000 plus excellent benefits. Compensation is commensurate with experience. We strongly encourage LGBTQ, women and people of color to apply.
