Big Tech Loses Skirmish in Its Bid to Sabotage Antitrust Enforcers

September 28, 2022 Press Release

Washington, D.C. – After the House of Representatives voted to advance legislation to strengthen antitrust law, with a final vote on the underlying bill scheduled for tomorrow or Friday, the American Economic Liberties Project released the following statement.

“Today, Big Tech and their armies of lobbyists lost a skirmish in the battle to make antitrust enforcers fight with one hand tied behind their backs,” said Sarah Miller, Executive Director of the American Economic Liberties Project. “This week, Congress should approve this bill, which will help put honest businesses and fair competition over Big Tech special interests. We look forward to seeing this commonsense bill become law.”

The American Economic Liberties Project works to ensure America’s system of commerce is structured to advance, rather than undermine, economic liberty, fair commerce, and a secure, inclusive democracy. Economic Liberties believes true economic liberty means entrepreneurs and businesses large and small succeed on the merits of their ideas and hard work; commerce empowers consumers, workers, farmers, and engineers instead of subjecting them to discrimination and abuse from financiers and monopolists; foreign trade arrangements support domestic security and democracy; and wealth is broadly distributed to support equitable political power.
