Ticketmaster Lost. States Won. New Nationwide Billboard Campaign Launches Today

May 13, 2026 Press Release

Today, billboards are going up across the country, from Times Square to California thanking state attorneys general for holding the line against Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s illegal monopoly after the Trump DOJ caved to corporate pressure and cut a sweetheart settlement. A federal jury recently found that Live Nation and Ticketmaster illegally maintained monopoly power in the live events market, after more than 30 states in a bipartisan coalition continued the case despite the DOJ settlement.

Here’s one example (from Times Square, NY), see this drive link for others.

Across the country, fans have felt the consequences of Live Nation-Ticketmaster’s dominance through junk fees, broken service, inflated prices, and the helplessness of knowing there is often nowhere else to go. This verdict proves that monopoly power can be challenged – but only when public officials have the courage to stand up to some of the most powerful corporations in the world.

“Live Nation-Ticketmaster thought it could buy its way out of accountability,” said Nidhi Hegde, Executive Director for the American Economic Liberties Project. “But a bipartisan coalition of state AGs refused to fold. These billboards are a thank you card on behalf of every fan who has been gouged, every artist who has been squeezed, and every independent venue forced to live under Ticketmaster’s thumb. Now the court needs to finish the job and break up this monopoly for good.”

The American Economic Liberties Project works to ensure America’s system of commerce is structured to advance, rather than undermine, economic liberty, fair commerce, and a secure, inclusive democracy. Economic Liberties believes true economic liberty means entrepreneurs and businesses large and small succeed on the merits of their ideas and hard work; commerce empowers consumers, workers, farmers, and engineers instead of subjecting them to discrimination and abuse from financiers and monopolists; foreign trade arrangements support domestic security and democracy; and wealth is broadly distributed to support equitable political power.
